West Indian Manatee


WALT: use our senses to make our writing more interesting.


West Indian Manatees are known as the sea cows of the coast.
Have you ever seen one before?


Task 1: Watch the video clip on the site. Make sure you watch carefully so
you can see what West Indian Manatees look like..


Task 2: Brainstorm using some of your senses. What can you see/hear/feel
if you were to ever see a West Indian Manatee? Think about the shape of
the Manatee, what you think it’s skin might feel like. Take a note of its
environment. What does a West Indian Manatee need to survive?


In this table, write the descriptive words that you would be able to see/hear/smell/touch/taste.

The African manatee, also known as the West African manatee, is a species
of manatee that is mostly herbivorous. It is also related to the elephant and
not endangered because they are good animals and 

They eat sea grass and sometimes they eat seaweed.
The  west Indian manatee can eat the same thing as the African manatee.
They While cruising, manatees push themselves forward by moving their
strong tails up and down. They steer with the help of their flexible flippers.

Imagine going snorkelling at a beach and seeing beautiful green sea turtles.
What do you think the experience would be like?


Task 1: Watch the video clip on the site. Imagine you were the person
snorkelling… Put yourself in their flippers.


Task 2: Brainstorm using your senses. What do you think you would be
able to see/hear/smell/touch/taste if you were swimming with Green Sea
Turtles?

They can be found  in the pacific Ocean and they are cool.The green sea
turtle eats crabs and jellyfish and sponges.Classified as endangered
green turtles are threatened by over harvesting of their eggs, hunting of
adults being caught in fishing gear and loss of nesting beach sites.

A little Baby Caiman looks like a  Black Caiman but small.it has a small head and a small body and
Baby black caiman mostly eat small fish frogs crustaceans and insects. As they grow they begin
to eat larger fish including piranhas, catfish and perch.
They live in the Amazon River basin in shallow freshwater and slow moving rivers, stems and lakes.
There predators are jaguars, humans and pythons.

A king Cobra can be found in forests in India .A  king Cobra The king cobra’s name in greek comes from the word ophiophagus which means snake eater and the If there is a lack of prey available to the cobra they like to eat lizards, birds and rodents. After having a large meal the cobra can survive many months without food due to its slow metabolism.They live in dense highland forests preferring areas that have lakes and streams in close proximity. The population of king cobras has dropped off in some areas due to the destruction of forests. The king cobra is  known as the world's longest venomous snake they can grow up to 4 m in length with the longest record cobra measuring 5.85 m.If a human accidentally gets on the wrong side of a cobra they are encouraged to slowly remove a hat or shirt and toss it on the ground while backing away slowly.
